5 Easy Advent Ideas For You This Christmas

The Advent calendar has been around for centuries from the church history. The modern advent calendar has existed since the nineteenth century; many of us have bought several throughout our lifespan & have most likely received one at some point. But the Advent calendar is a reminder of what is to come, Jesus Christ.

Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming" or "arrival." In December, we celebrate Advent, the birth of Jesus Christ. Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming" or "arrival." In December, we celebrate Advent, the birth of Jesus Christ. Celebrated in many Christian homes, the advent calendar has become a Christmas tradition as part of the season.
Many stores offer the nostalgic cardboard advent calendar with hidden chocolates; I received many throughout my childhood. Every day, I would wake up & run to my calendar & peel back the thin door that led to hiding chocolate; I must say the chocolate wasn't the tastiest. But the memories are everything that has lasted me a lifetime, something that I passed on to my children & even to Pepper & Noodle.

I have created five easy advent calendars for you to do, many of which you may already have the items on hand.

Christmas is such a beautiful time of year & making memories for yourself or for loved ones is what I strive to do every year.

Happy Holiday Season to You & Yours!

Advent Calendar
O' Christmas Tree
Grab one of your extra trees; it can be any size or even on your main tree. Set aside a beautiful bowl & ornaments; I have gone with an ironstone tureen & vintage ornament. If you want to do this with children, you can opt for non-breakable ornaments. I filled the bowl with the ornaments. As the season of Advent starts, hang one ornament a day on your tree.

Pots & Thin Candles
Here, I have used two of my pots. I am filling one with thin candles, one for each day of Advent. Each day of Advent, I place a candle into the other pot & light it. You can burn the candle down as much as you like. You can use a flower frog to hold the candles upright.

Nordic Advent Calendar

I will be using this option this year. I purchased it a few years ago & love how beautiful & simple it is. The first year, I would light one candle & the previous days together. This year, I will burn each candle completely. I have checked the website I purchased it from, but it is currently sold out. They have many different options so that I will link the shop here. I am sure you will love it to & find something that will meet your needs.

Advent Calendar
The Holy Family
The Holy Family statute. I was gifted this by my mom a few years ago. I love the simplicity & it's the meaning of Christmas. I have placed a 16" taper candle in white. There are two options that you can do with the candle. One is to burn each day as much as you want, leaving enough candle for the entire duration of Advent. The other option is marking the candle with the days of Advent & letting the candle burn down to the next day. There are also candles that are marked already for you too.

Ornaments
This option is the simplest one to recreate. I have two bowls of different materials. One is made of copper & the other an ironstone tureen. I am filling one of the bowls of ornaments & placing one ornament into the other bowl. I have set the second bowl on a pedestal, giving it that extra WOW once it is completely filled at the end of Advent.
